Question:
I have a 2023 GMC 3500 Denali Dually w/ 8 ft bed. I moved a Curt A25 from my RAM and have it set at max height 17”. I am pulling a Grand Design Solitude 310GK 18k GVWR with MORRyde Rubber Pinbox on a Lippert 1621. My issue is the bedrail to RV clearance, it is running between 5 and 5 1/2 inches. I am happy with the performance of both the hitch and the Pinbox, but need to make a change. Going with the BandW Companion would solve the problem, as would switching to GEN-Y Executive Hitch. I have no experience with the GEN-Y and would like input on comparison against the MORRyde? As far as the GEN-Y, I am running with at 3850 to 3975 pin weight, so thinking the 4.5k, but right on the edge. Any input?

First be sure to check the mounting points of the MORryde Cushioned 5th Wheel Pin Box # MR84VR to verify it cannot be moved lower on the mounting arms which would give you the rise you are needing. If the pin box is already in its lowest position the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3715 is capable of a height of 18-3/4". This has the same 25,000lb capacity of your Curt A25 # C24FR.
The MORryde # MR84VR allows for front, back and side to side cushioning to reduce chucking while the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box # GY68GR has vertical cushioning. This means the MORryde is going to handle the chucking better when stopping and starting while the Gen-Y will better handle the bounce at higher speeds.
