I recommend using the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98902 on your 2016 Mazda CX-5. This is the correct receiver for your prior to 2016.5 model year. I prefer our receiver as it has a matte black finish that better matches with the fascia trim on your CX-5. I have linked an install video below which will help you see how it will look on your vehicle as well as help you decide if this is a project you prefer to install yourself or take to a shop to have completed.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56310 will give you a 4-way flat connector. This connector is needed if you need will be towing a small trailer or need to use Auxiliary Lights # C53201 with a hitch mounted accessory.
