Fulton ball mounts, like the # F47CR, are made overseas in China. If you were looking for something American made, you would need to go with something like the Convert-A-Ball # AMSC4.
The Convert-A-Ball will have a higher 10,000 pound capacity, the same rise and drop as the Fulton, and a polyurethane shock absorber that helps with the jarring/clunking felt when stopping and starting. This is made out of steel though, so if you wanted to go with an American made aluminum option, I do have one more for you to look at.
That being the Fastway # DTALBM6400. Yes, this is more expensive than the other two. However, this has built in locks (both for the hitch and ball platform), 10,000 pounds of capacity with the 2-5/16" ball, 7,500 pounds of capacity with the 2" ball, and 5" of drop or 4" of rise. And again, made in America.
With all that being said, the Fastway might be a bit overkill. Personally, I really like the Convert-A-Ball option and have never had an issue with them. That would be the one I would go with if I were looking for one.
