Troubleshooting A MaxxAir MaxxFan Deluxe With A Non-Working Fan

Question:

Maxxair Deluxe 7500... Everything worked when shut off at end of last summer no use during winter Vent opens and closes with remote and built-in controller... Fan will not come on with either remote or built-in controls Removed blade screen and blades move freely by hand... How would I determine whether it is switch or motor?

Before you start taking anything apart you'll want to test the power and ground connections to ensure that the vent # MA00-7500K has what it needs to properly operate. If your vent has a bad ground it can cause it to act strangely and if it's not receiving a full 12 volts then it could complete some functions (opening and closing) while others won't work.

To test the motor # MA10-20968 you would need to remove it and cut off the connector (with enough wire to splice it back on) to put power and ground to it with a battery. If the motor starts up then we know it isn't the cause and that the circuit board or the keypad needs to be replaced.

Since you've tried the remote and still won't work the keypad # MA10-21304K most likely isn't the cause, which would leave just the circuit board # MA10A21275K as the cause of the issue.
