Is Trailer Weight Also Reduced with Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches
Published 04/12/2023 >
Question:
I see that by using this adapter ,it will cut the tongue weight rating in half but does it do the same to the tow rating numbers for instance 10000# to 5000#? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Yes, the Gen-Y Hitch Hitch Extender for 2" Trailer Hitches part # GY89SR as with any hitch extender reduces both tongue weight and gross trailer weight by half. The weight capacity with this hitch extender is 500 lbs for tongue weight and 10,000 lbs for gross trailer weight unless the hitch is rated lower.
