Can the SoftStartRV Soft Start Be Used on a Furrion A/C

Updated 08/11/2025 | Published 04/03/2023

Question:

Hello, I want to install the SoftStartRV Soft Start for Single Zone Air Conditioner Setup - Item # SSR54FR on my 2021 Open Range fw. It has a 15000btu Furrion A/C. I just want to make sure this will work for it? From what I can read it does but just want to make sure. Thanks

The SoftStartRV Soft Start # SSR54FR was designed and tested for all RVs and motorhomes. So you are correct that it can be used for a Furrion A/C as long as it is a single zone A/C.

Some of the Furrion models already have a start capacitor. If you are unsure of your Furrion, you can provide me with the model number of your A/C and I would be happy to look into it for you.

I was wanting to know if I can use the SoftStartRV Soft Start for Single Zone Air Conditioner Part Number: SSR54FR for my two Furrion A/C units on my 2022 Coachmen Chaparral. Both units are 14.5K BTU Model FACR14SA-BL. On my thermostat, there is a Zone 1 and Zone 2 for the two units. I am not sure if that means that each one is a single zone A/C or not. You previously stated in another post "Some of the Furrion models already have a start capacitor. If you are unsure of your Furrion, you can provide me with the model number of your A/C and I would be happy to look into it for you." Please let me know if I can use the SoftStartRV, and if possible, can you provide me with wiring instructions? I took pictures inside the unit if you want to see them. Thanks

@BobS Hey Bob, the Furrion FACR14SA-BL comes with a start capacitor already installed. There would be no benefit from adding another.

@JesseM Ok, my hope was to be able to run both A/C units on a 30 Amp hookup. I don't know if that will work with the start capacitor already installed on these units. Do you know?

@BobS The FACR14SA-BL AC Unit draws about 14.6 amps when running so you would barely have enough juice to run the two. Starting them both up would be the challenge even with the start capacitors
