Replacement Options To Consider When Replacing Your RV's Air Conditioner System

Question:
I have questions about buying a new AC to replace my old one.

Well there are two routes you can take when replacing the AC unit:
Route 1: You replace just the rooftop (condenser) unit and keep the same air distribution box and thermostat.
Route 2: You replace the entire system (condenser unit, air distribution box, and thermostat).
Most people choose route 1 and just keep their thermostat, since most of the time it's still functioning properly but the condenser unit has failed. Route 2 is typical for people who have an issue with their thermostat or the cover (plenum) on their air distribution box from general wear and tear. When going with route 2 you won't have to worry about what was in place before since everything is going to be replaced.
Route 1 will require you to do just a bit of investigating beforehand to see what style connector you have on the wire harness from the condenser unit. If you unscrew the plenum on your air distribution box and take a look up you'll typically see the controller, which has all of the wiring running to it. On there you'll see the wire harness from the condenser unit and it will have either a 6-pin or 9-pin connector (pictured below). If you have a 9-pin connector then you'll just need to pick up an adapter # ACCOLKIT along with a new condenser unit.
I've attached a video below where the controller was mounted up inside the condenser unit. If you end up having the same style you'll need to remount it in the space between the condenser and plenum. In the video you'll also see the wire harness and connectors I'm referring to.
If you want to go with route 1 then I recommend the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit # FR58PR (black # FR86PR). If you want to go route 2 then I recommend the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR55PV (black # FR23PV).
If you have any other questions then let me know.

If I go with route 2 will there be any benefit with reduction of AC noise or benefits of cooling? I currently have Coleman Mach 3.
