Question:

I need a set that would work on a Mini Cooper convertible that would mount on the back at a 90 degree angle. Is there a set of lights that would mount that. The mini has no flat surface to mount any other way. Thanks. I wouldnt want to add bulbs or tap into vehicle wiring by using diodes. Also I will be needing base plates for this mini convertible that is a 2007 year model, I have the Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. Thanks.

I reviewed an online copy of the owners manual for the 2007 Mini Cooper. Page 114 indicates that the manual transmission model may be flat towed (with the gear shift in neutral) but that the automatic transmission version cannot be flat-towed without causing transmission damage. The automatic must be towed with the front wheels up off the ground as with a tow dolly like RoadMaster # RM-2050-1.

If your 2007 Mini Cooper convertible is a manual we offer Roadmaster Base Plates # 521876-1. These feature removable arms to help retain as much as possible of the vehicle original appearance, and they help prevent bumps and bruises to the shins. These bolt-on base plates are compatible with your Roadmaster Falcon 2 tow bar. The installation instructions are linked for your reference.

You will also need safety cables such as Roadmaster # RM-643, and a supplemental braking system such as the Roadmaster Even Brake proportional braking system # RM-9400.

If you do not want to alter the vehicle wiring for a diode kit and magnetic lights will not work for you then you might use the Magnetic Tow Lights - Red LEDs - 4-Way Flat Connectors - 20' Long Harness
Item # PE26UR which securely attach with the strong magnets.
