The heaviest model 2006 Chevy Equinox weighs just under 4,000 pounds, so if you use at least four of the Erikson Car Tie-Down Straps, # 08504-05, you should be fine. The straps have a maximum capacity of 10,000 pounds and a safe working load limit of about 3,300 pounds. More contact points is better than less, so if the vehicle and trailer allow, I would use 4 straps to spread the load and keep the car steady on the trailer.
