Can 2007 Jeep Wrangler Be Dolly Towed Behind a Motorhome

Published 02/03/2023

Question:

I have a 30ft Thor motor home and a 2007 Jeep wrangler 2 door 4x4 with manual transmission. I currently have a car dolly with brakes but the manual says that front or rear wheel lifts should not be used. If I need to flat tow what do I need and do I need a brake set up if flat towing? Thank you

Thanks for reaching out!

Generally, recreational towing means that all 4 wheels of the vehicle are on the ground, which is what I'm seeing in the online version of the owner's manual for your 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Since your Wrangler does have a neutral setting you might be able to use a tow dolly but I'd reach out to your local Jeep dealership to confirm this won't damage your vehicle.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter.

If you end up using a tow dolly and need to upgrade in the future I recommend checking out the Demco Kar Kaddy SS # DM9713045, otherwise I'm linking an article on parts needed to flat tow a 2007 Wrangler for you to reference. If you want some specific part recommendations from me just let me know and I'd be more than happy to assist!
