Tankless Water Heater Recommendation for 1993 Park Model RV

Published 01/11/2023

Question:

Two years ago we purchased a 1993 Park Model RV with the original water heater. The heater is an Intertherm hse-20f-120ls which is a 120V electric only 20gal unit. two 120V 1700W elements. Several months ago we installed a clothes washer so the heaters work load has increased. Its recently begun making popping noises during and after heating cycles. While it has been drained for winterization every year, I suspect mineral buildup and 30yrs is beyond my comfort zone. What would you use to replace it? Interestingly, the heater doesnt appear to have a drain/flush valve anywhere just the cold in and hot out connections. Also, I see only electric/gas hybrids and tankless units on your site. Thanks,

To replace a larger capacity RV water heater like what you have now I would recommend a tankless that is rated higher like our Furrion part # FR68SR which is rated for 60,000 BTU. This is capable of heating up to 2.4 gallons of water per minute so I would recommend checking what your washer requires but this should still work great. We do not offer any electric only models so you would most likely have to have a professional run gas lines on your trailer.
