Question:
I am installing a maxxfan 4 speed in my vintage camper. order number is: 114138107. I am at the final step and installing the plastic trim. Does the trim fit inside the fan box or just hit the outer edge. I cannot remember because I unboxed a few weeks ago

The plastic trim piece on your MaxxFan Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # MA00A04401K is going to fit between the face of the vent and the mounting flange. You'll want to make sure you leave some slack in the black and white wires since the trim is going to kind of fight them for the same space.
As for trimming down the trim, I typically push it in as far as it can go and then take a marker around it up against the ceiling. Then I measure everything above that line since this is how long the trim will need to be to cover that hole. I then measure from the mounting flange of the trim up with that measurement and make another line and cut off the excess. If you have a curved ceiling you'll want to follow the angle of the line you first drew so that you cut the trim appropriately to fit the curve of the ceiling.
