Question:
Your site lists the XG-12 as On Roadinch chains, but I have seen it elsewhere as On road AND off road. The design certainly looks like it would do well on our dirt roads around here which, from time to time, get acquainted with a county gravel truck. But they get over it quickly. Can you clarify the correct application, please?

Expert Reply:
I spoke with Thule to clarify if the Thule XG-12 Chains are for off-road or on-road and my rep told me they are on-road which means they can handle pavement or gravel, but not dirt roads that require mud traction.
For a similar Thule set in the same size check out the Thule Standard XD16 Chains # TH01571245. These are rated for offroad use and should work well for you.
Lastly, you will want to check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if their are any restrictions on snow chain use.
I attached a couple FAQ articles on snow chains for you to check out also.
