How To Use The Mounting Lock Handle On The Dometic Portable Camping Toilet
Updated 12/31/2022 | Published 12/24/2022 >
Question:
My Dometic toilet has an unnmaed part on it that is shown in the pictures on the website but is not labeled this part is missing on the toilet used in your video review. I need to know what this part is for, how it works etc. Ive had some issues with this toilet- somehow the entire assembly that controls the opening and closing of the bowl where the waste s into the holding tank, came apart. I was able to get this back together and operational again though it was not easy and I certainly dont want to have to deal with this issue again. Im wondering if this unnamed part may have something to do with that though I doubt it because of where on the toilet it is located. This part is located at the front and very bottom of the toilet. If you look at the front of the toilet the flush button and tank fullness level gauge and bowl open/close are facing you there is some sort of handleinch at the very bottom center of the toilet on this handleinch are symbols for LOCKED and UNLOCKED. Please see attached pic. What is this part for? Why is it not included in the description of how to operate this toilet in the video review? Also, is the pivoting spigot for dumping the tank supposed to completely detach from the tank if you turn it just slightly past the position it would be in for dumping? I made the mistake of turning the spigot slightly too far and it came completely off the tank while dumping- you can imagine the mess- a full tank of waste poured out everywhere, Im just grateful I was at an outside RV dumping station with a water hose available for cleaning up the disaster, and not dumping inside a residential toilet at the home of a friend- 5 gallons of waste flooding out ontoall over their bathroom- can you imagine? If this is how this toilet is supposed to operate it would be good to include a warning about this hazard in your video review. Thank you,

The part you have pictured goes in at the very bottom of the front of the # DOM44FR and is labeled as part number 9 - Locking Handle in the owner's manual. There are brackets that yo can get separately to screw into the floor to secure the toilet so it doesn't move around during use or travel and this locking handle slides into the front bracket to lock it in place.
