To tow a trailer with your 2022 Subaru Forester you will need a trailer hitch, wiring, and a ball mount. I recommend the following parts:
-etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e83ZR
-T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467
-etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989900
The etrailer hitch is a Class III hitch with a 3,500 lb capacity. It features a bolt-on installation and also has a matte black powder coat finish. This finish gives it more of an OEM look and helps hide dirt and scratches. It also comes with a limited lifetime warranty and is made in the USA.
The Tekonsha wiring harness is the most reliable option available. This plugs into the connection point in your rear cargo area and will give you a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights. The etrailer Ball Mount Kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
