Question:
ETRAILER, I am experiencing power loss code PL on brake controller when my brakes are applied or I get a 5H code. Tow vehicle is 09 RAM 3500 towing 2006 33ft 5th wheel. I suspect the cable and/or the molded 7way plug needing replacement. i still get the PL code when driving when plugged in either from the inside bed or bumper socket. I used a 7way test plug on each socket and I am seeing the brake signals from both when brakes are applied. Request suggestions. I am ready to replace the whole cable to the pinbox junction box. Thank you

The PL and SH fault codes can be found on Tekonsha controllers like the Prodigy P2 90885; the PL means there is a power interruption when you depress the brake pedal while the SH means the brake wire see a short during idle or that a test light might be causing this problem.
Since you're seeing both of these codes I recommend checking the ground for the controller and making sure it's securely connected to a clean, bare-metal surface and that the rest of your wiring is in good shape. If your truck came with a factory trailer connector then you would have likely used the Wring Adapter # 3020-P for the brake controller install but if the truck didn't come with factory trailer wiring then you would have installed a wiring kit like the # ETBC7.
Once you know what wire is the problem you can fix or replace it accordingly and that should solve the problem, but I don't think at this time you're going to need to change out wiring on your trailer.
