Question:

My truck sits outside year round, how is the function of this even after snow is brushed off? will it ice up and not retract in below freezing temps?

I reached out to Pace Edwards who informed me with their Switchblade Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-SWCA27A58 on your 2019 GMC Sierra with the 5-3/4' short bed you will still be able to retract it with some light snow and ice on the cover. They recommend smacking the top of the cover to help break up any ice on the cover which will allow you to more easy remove large pieces of ice. Even if there is a thin layer of ice on the cover or small pieces which do get rolled up inside the canister they will melt away and drain down through the drain tubes.

Be sure to get the Pace Edwards WeatherGate Tailgate Seal # 311-WG2001 to help keep dirt and moisture out of your bed when the cover is closed on the bed.
