Question:

This says it can hold 500 lbs. Does this mean that I can load cargo on top of it and strap it down with the stake pockets?

The 500 lb weight capacity of the Lomax Professional Series Hard Tonneau Cover # AB0010029 for your 2023 Ford F-150 is evenly distributed weight. So while you can technically do this, I don't really recommend is since that weight rating is really designed more around things like a heavy snowfall rather than loading cargo on top.

To haul cargo above your tonneau cover I recommend installing a ladder rack like the Adarac M-Series # A62FR or Pro Series # A58RR. These have a 500 lbs capacity but is designed for hauling so you don't have to be as careful about what you load onto the rack, just as long as it doesn't exceed the weight limited.
