Will 215/75R14 Tires Fit Ranger Boat Trailer With 215/70R14 Tires

Updated 11/07/2022 | Published 11/05/2022

Question:

I bought a used ranger boat trailer, it has 215 70 r14 tires on it, thinking of putting 215 75 r14, first would those work on my existing rims and would that be a better tire for the 18 foot trailer? Thank you

A tire like the Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # TTWTRTM2157514D will fit the 15" rims on your Ranger boat trailer. These have a larger diameter so you will lose about 1/2" of clearance on the top, more than likely this will not be a problem. Typically you want at least 3" of clearance on the top of the tire so you will need to double check your spacing just to be sure.

Also, the 215/70R14 tires are typically passenger vehicle tires so it is definitely a good idea to replace these with trailer tires. Passenger tires aren't designed to handle the vertical downward force of a trailer's weight which could lead to a blow out.
