Alternative for Pin Lock for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps

Ive purchased one of these locks before and it unlocked itself and fell off on my first 2 hour highway only road trip. This was after falling off in my drive way just from raising the glow steps. Even if I had a faulty one it seems that they would easily be pryed off. Are there any other option for locking the glow steps? This is for a truck camper with steps mounted onto an aluminum deck.

The etrailer Trailer Coupler Latch Lock part # e98889 is very similar to the Pin Lock for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps part # TLA7509 so you should be able to swap the two without issue. The etrailer lock is threaded unlike the TorkLift so there will be no accidental unlocking.
