Air Bag Kit Recommendation for Towing a 5th Wheel RV with a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500

Updated 08/17/2022 | Published 08/16/2022

Question:

Not sure which Air Bag P/N to use. I think individual air supply would provide me the proper leveling of the load on either side to offset the Fifth Wheel pin weight, sway etc. My main concern is safety! Cost is secondary! Dry weight of 5th wheel is 8,400lbs. GVW towing capacity - dry plus cargo is 10,050Lbs. Using a safety factor of 15 of max load - Cargo, passengers and gear Tanks etc. I would like a video of an install that fits my 2011 1500 1/2 ton with coils. Thank you!

Thank you for all of the information!

For your application I recommend going with the Firestone Coil-to-Air-Spring Conversion Kit # F2595 which upgrades your coil springs to an air style suspension for better control and support. We don't have an installation video on a 2011 1/2 ton but we do have an installation video of this kit on a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 that I'm linking for you to check out.

Please not that none of our suspension enhancement kits will increase the weight capacity of your vehicle as they are only designed to support or increase ride quality of your vehicle.

In addition to this air bag kit I recommend checking out the Firestone Air Command I # F2266 because it allows you o monitor and adjust your air bags on the fly plus it comes with an air tank and air supply hose so you can fill up tires and whatever else you may encounter while you're out camping.

Attached is a review video of the compressor kit for you to reference as well.
