Question:

Hi, we want to flat tow a 2019 2.0L AWD Equinox behind our RV. From question-372134 It looks like we need a RM-523193-5 base plate and the RM-677 tow bar is recommended. The 677 says it is for Blue OX. Will it fit the 523193-5 base plate too? Also, the equinox needs to be charged while towing, I see the 677 has some electrics to a 6-pin at the car, what is needed beyond that to charge the car and also possibly run the Eq Brake lights/turn signals? There is soooo much information/options. Thanks,

You're correct that the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-677 is for Blue Ox baseplates and would not be a compatible fit for the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523193-5. You'll instead need the # RM-676 Nighthawk, which is compatible with Roadmaster Direct-Connect style baseplates.

The Nighthawk comes with the 6-way to 7-way cable and the socket but you'll still need the diodes and wiring to transfer your motorhome's signals through the tail lights of your Equinox.

If you have LED tail lights then you'll need the Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RO44FR.

If you have incandescent tail lights then you'll need the Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RO94FR.

Since you have combined wiring you will need to also install the Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751489 to prevent the brake signal from overriding the turn signal.

You'll also need a braking system to activates the brakes in your Equinox while towing. For this I recommend the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system comes with a charge line kit for your vehicle so that the battery can stay charged while you tow.

If you don't have a charge line on your motorhome already then you'll also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75.
