Can 4 Point Lippert Ground Control 3.0 Be Upgraded to 6 Point

Updated 07/15/2022 | Published 07/14/2022

Question:

I purchased part# LC358590 six months ago with the intention of installing the system myself on my 369BL Wildwood Heritage Glen. I am just now getting around to begin the installation process and was reading through the manual to familiarize myself with everything before I start to remove stock components on the 5th wheel. And in the instructions, youre to measure the distance between the center of the front landing gear footpad and where the center of the rear jack footpad will be. If the distance is less than 20 feet, youre supposed to install the 4-point system and if the distance is over 20 feet, youre supposed to install the six-point system. Well, the 20-foot measurement falls right in my tandem axle area. So, I should have ordered the six-point system. Thus, I have several options. 1. Eat the cost of the LC358590 and order the six-point system. While trying to sell the four-point. 2. Asking if it is possible to upgrade the four-point system with the extra necessary parts to bring it to a six-point system. 3. And the last option I can think of is to use the four-point system by installing the rear jacks in front of my tandem axles and leaving the rear stabilizer jacks installed. Using this option would mean leveling the camper, then putting the rear stabilizer jacks down manually. This option would serve as a substitute to the true six-point application with leveling still being automated but having the last step be manual. Thoughts?

Your best option is to replace the unit with the 6 point kit part # LC675817. We've actually asked Lippert about upgrading a 4 point to a 6 point in the past and they have told us it's not possible since basically everything is different aside from the original 4 jacks.

It's hard to say how the kit would function using it as just a 4 point and the rear stabilizers you have now.
