Wiring Instructions For The Jensen JWM62A RV Stereo

Question:

I’m upgrading from awm970 to jwm62a The 970 has three power connection and the 62aonly two. The switched go together does the amp remote go to the trigger?

The "Amp Remote" blue wire coming from the harness for your Jensen RV Stereo # JWM60A is only used if you are needing to power an external amp. If you have an external amp you would would run this wire to it, which basically tells the amp turn on when the stereo is powered on. It is simply used as a trigger wire for the amp.

If you don't have an external amp then you can just cap off this wire. I've attached the wiring diagram below for you as well.

@ArsenioR To choose the correct transformer you'll need to first determine the your load characteristics, such as the power rating, the voltage level, the frequency, the power factor, the harmonic content, and the load variation. These parameters will determine the size, the type, and the insulation class of the transformer that you need. From there you will need to choose between a dry-type or liquid-filled type transformer. If you plan on installing the stereo inside then you'll want a dry-type, or if outdoors then you'll want a liquid-filled type transformer. We don't currently offer any transformers and thus aren't as knowledgeable on them so I recommend reaching out to Jensen Transformers for further help in picking out the right transformer for your setup.

I am also switching my Jensen AWM 970 with the JWM 62A. Which colored wire from the new harness will connect to the yellow power wire (with in line 15a fuse) from the old harness? I already connected the red to red from the new to old harness.

@Bob Is red to red the correct functions? It sounds like your yellow wire is for power, and if we look at the diagram above the red wire for the Jensen is power. You'll need to connect the wires by function instead of by color.

Thank you. I guess what confused me is that my rv has 2 power sources. 1) the radio will receive power fron the ignition switch. So the radio will play while the rv is running, or when the switch is turned to the accessory position. 2) there is also a designated power switch on the dash that allows the radio to be played without the ignition switch being in the accessory or run position. Does the new radio have a second power wire? The old radio does.

@Bob According to the wiring diagram on this answer page, the new radio only has the single 12V power source.
