Roof Rack Recommendation to Use a Thule Hullavator # TH898 on My 2018 Ram 2500 Crew Cab

Question:

I need to purchase a Hullavator Kayak lift assist rack and the cross rails that will fit my 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 crew cab to attach it to. Can you assist me in ensuring I get both compatible parts so they will play well together? I have a 60 pound 14.5 kayak so I need it solid. Thank you for your expertise

I can definitely help you out! For the absolute best setup to use with the Thule Hullavator Pro # TH898 on your 2018 Ram 2500 Crew Cab, I recommend the following setup:

- Yakima JetStream Crossbars - 70" # Y00427
- BaseLine Towers # Y28TR
- 2 Sets of the BaseClip Fit Kit # Y06135
- Yakima Same-Key Lock Cores # Y07204

With this roof rack, you receive the extra long 70" crossbars. With this length, you have the required 4-8 inches of crossbar length past the BaseLine towers needed on order for the Hullavator to function properly. The Hullavator also clamps perfectly onto the JetStream crossbars. As far as weight capacity, you receive a maximum limit of 165 pounds. With this limit, it can easily support the 39.7 pound Hullavator along with your 60 pound kayak. To lock your Hullavator to the crossbars, you need the Thule One-Key Locks # TH450200.

I went ahead and attached a video that shows 68" crossbars installed on a 2019 Ram 2500. You will have an inch of additional length on each side and it will install virtually the same way.
