Can White PVC Pipe of CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons be Shortened

Question:
Can you cut a foot off the bottom of the white PVC tube to make the total height 48 in. I need the width of this model but not 5 ft tall.

You'd have to also add a new slot to the bottom of the PVC pipe but yes you could shorten the white upright pipe of the # CE27648 if you wanted by cutting it.
