Is the Lock on the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes Secure

Question:

I dont really trus the lockable hitch pin as those can be easily broken by thief. I like the concept of lockable anti rattle knob like those on Thule rack. Can the knob on Kuat Sherpa be replace to lockable knob like below or the kind ? With bike rack this expensive I want to make sure that I have a solid way to protect it than just depend on the hitch lock. I like the Kuat Sherpa but the inability to lock the knob really hinder me

In regards to the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes part # SH22P, the knob on the front of the rack is just an anti-rattle device. The actual locking mechanism is built into the hitch pin and bike cables. The hitch pin is solid steel so it's not easily broken and the lock core itself is very durable. I don't recall of any accounts where security was an issue with this rack. The fact of the matter is that no lock is theft-proof, it's usually the presence of a lock that deters thieves but with enough time and the right tools there's no denying that any lock can be broken.
