I'm getting a 22 Ford escape' hybrid, what hitch would work best for my rig? I want to tow a smaller trailer around with it.

I recommend going with the etrailer hitch. Max trailer weight is 3,500 pounds and max tongue weight is 525 pounds. Then use the T-One wire harness to get power to your trailer lights and the etrailer drop ball mount kit to finish off the components you need.
