Question:
I own a 2005 Chrysler 300 with the 2.7L V6 engine. The only specs I could find says it has a max towing capacity of 1,000 pounds, but this hitch says it holds up to 3,500 pounds. Even the larger engine 300s only say their capacity is 2,000 pounds. So my question is how much can they actually tow? Ive seen a lot of good trailers around 1,200-1,500 pounds but dont want to cause any problems by getting anything too heavy. Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
The important thing to remember is that the trailer hitch is rated for 3,500 pounds. If the vehicle is rated lower, which in this case it is, you go by the lower rating. You would not want to go beyond the capacity specified in your vehicle owners manual.
I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation for you. I have also included a link to the installation instructions. Since you are planning on doing some towing I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For trailer wiring use # 118404. I have linked a video and the instructions for the wiring as well.
