Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2013 Toyota Highlander
Published 03/31/2022 >
Question:
I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander. I am planning on purchasing the new Kuat Piston Pro X when available. My question is: will I only need to add the Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring or will I need to add something like the Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle wiring. I am not sure how power hungry the LED lights on that bike rack will be. Thank you,

The easiest and best solution to add trailer wiring to your 2013 Toyota Highlander is going to be with the Tekonsha kit part # 118449 which plugs right into a port that's present on your vehicle wiring. Since your vehicle has stoplight circuits separate from the turn signals you wouldn't be able to just hardwire in a 4-way directly as the signals would need to be converted. LED lights draw a fraction of an amp which is not very much at all.
