My understanding is that the max flow brand is a direct replacement for my current water pump. Artis pds1rv25 water pump Is that correct? Can I use a higher flow pump than the 3.3 gallon?

Yes, the flow max pump is an exact replacement for your system.
I advise you do not upgrade your pump without upgrading other components of your plumbing. The only way to increase flow rate in the same size piping is increase pressure. Your system is designed to run at a certain psi and if you add a larger pump you run the risk of creating a leak or busting a seal somewhere.
