Question:

What's the difference between the Draw-Tite and Curt Class III hitches for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator. Which is better?

Expert Reply:

We offer two types of hitches for the 2021 Gladiator. Both a full frame, and the type that simply bolts to the rear crossmember using existing holes. The difference between the two types is the capacity.

The full frame hitch is part # DR64FR which has the highest capacity, at 7500 lbs towing/1125 lbs tongue weight. This is higher than the maximum 7650/765 lb capacity of the vehicle (capacity of vehicle might be less, consult owner's manual for specifics) but of you need the highest tongue weight capacity available, this would be the right choice, but it will NOT fit Rubicon models.

Curt and etrailer both offer the receiver that bolts to the rear crossmember. The Curt is part # CU74FR the etrailer is # e67AR. Either hitch has a 5000 lbs towing/500 lb tongue weight capacity. If you have a Rubicon, or if this capacity is sufficient, this would be the way to go. Neither of these are a fit for the Diesel model.

If you'll be towing with the hitch as opposed to using it for a hitch mounted accessory only, you'll also need a trailer wiring harness, part # 118786 along with a ball mount like # 2753 as well as # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2-inch trailer ball.
