Question:

I had a 1 -1/4 inch hitch on my 2019 Mazda CX 9 and just bought a 2022 Mazda CX 5. Can I use the same hitch on my new car? Are hitches ever compatible with other more than one car type? Thank you,

Yes, you are in luck the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" item # C12170 you were looking at fits Mazda CX-5's from 2013-2022. This isn't common for most vehicles. You are going to want to replace the hardware though. Those bolts are only recommended to be torqued down once. You will need the Replacement Hardware Kit for Trailer Hitches item # RHK. You just go to that page and insert the item number C12170 into the hitch model number box and purchase the kit. We will prepare and ship the correct hardware kit for you.
