Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2022 Ram 1500 Eco-Diesel

To properly and safely flat tow, your setup must have:

1) A base plate kit
2) A tow bar to connect the installed base plates to the RV
3) Safety cables in case the tow bar fails
4) Wiring to synchronize your RV’s and towed vehicles indicator lights
5) A supplemental braking system to synchronize your RV’s and towed vehicles brakes
You may or may not need additional components to complement/adapt your equipment for best fitment to your RV.

I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM-522203-5 to flat tow your 2022 Ram 1500 with the Eco-Diesel engine.

For a compatible tow bar, I recommend the Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar, # RM-576. This has a weight capacity of 8000 lbs. so it is well suited to safely flat tow your Ram. It is the non-binding design that allows for easy disconnect on uneven ground. The included safety cables will keep you from having to purchase them separately.

For a needed wiring solution, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, # RM-15267.

For a supplemental braking system, required by law, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR due to the easy installation and removal when you are are ready to flat tow, or are done flat towing. The Patriot # BLU37TR will apply the brakes to your truck with the same intensity that you apply the brakes in your Motorhome. You will need to install the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 to power the Patriot.

You will most likely need a high-low adapter to level the tow bar to your RV. I have included a helpful article on measuring for the correct adapter, and a link to all of our high-low adapters for you to take a look at.

We always recommend that you refer to your vehicle specific owners manual under the recreational towing section for any restrictions, or required steps to make your vehicle safely ready to be flat towed.
