Question:
Installing a receiver hitch and wiring on a 2016 Volvo and need advice: Trailer/dolly has a 7-pin round connector. I will just be towing it behind the Volvo for transport i.e. do not think I need brakes at this time. Volvo does not have a brake controller. Usually, the trailer/dolly will be towed behind a motorhome which is fully wired with brake controller, etc. Hitch and wiring for Volvo is strictly for trailer/dolly transport while it is unloaded. Would the following be what I would want for wiring? 1 Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C56355 2 Wesbar Adapter - 7-Way RV to 4-Way or 5-Way Flat - 18inch Long Item # 707250 Thanks for your advice.

Expert Reply:
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56355 you referenced is a compatible fit for your 2016 Volvo XC60. This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the trunk floor coverings and the rear scuff panel to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Since your trailer already has a 7-way male connector you'll then have to install a 7-way female connector on your Volvo. This can be done with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. Once the 4-way connector mentioned above is installed this kit will include everything else you need to install an electric trailer brake controller and 7-way. This will give you a 7-way female connector on your Volvo for the trailer cord to plug into.
The 2 Wesbar Adapter # 707250 you referenced is not going to be compatible because you'll be putting to male ends together so the only way to get the correct setup would be to install the 7-way on the back of your Volvo.
My assumption here is the trailer has a male 7-pin connector. If I'm wrong please let me know and we can figure out to correct figuration to allow you to tow your trailer.
