Determining The Correct Replacement Entry Door Lock For A Wells Cargo Enclosed Trailer

Question:

I recently bought a 6x12 wells cargo trailer. They did not have a door lock key. The lock has VL038 on the face of the lock how would I go about getting a key for this lock if possible.

Getting a key for this lock will not be possible unless you could get one secondhand from someone else. Instead of going through that hassle I recommend removing the door handle and checking the dimensions of the cutout hole to find what entry door lock you can replace this one with.

For example the Global Link RV Entry Door Locking Latch Kit with Keyed Alike Option # 295-000002 you were looking at will install in cutouts 2-1/2" to 3" wide x 3-1/2" to 4" tall and requires a door thickness of 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" thick.
