Question:
looking at the furrion back camera up for my 38 foot 5th wheel. The 5th wheel is not pre wired and I am very reluctant to drill holes in the unit. What would be the down side of mounting a 12v battery box to my 5th wheels rear bumper and running power from that battery to the camera, other that making sure the battery is fully charged. Also, I pull the unit with a F350 super duty crew cab. Will I have transmission issues? should I get a signal booster?

Sure, if you'd like you can use a standalone 12 volt battery to power the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System # FOS43TASF.
The issue is going to be exactly what you mentioned though, which is keeping the battery charged, particularly if you go on longer trips. You can circumvent that a bit with a battery box that has a solar panel, the TorkLift PowerArmor Solar Single Locking Battery Box # TLA7720RS.
