Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch For A 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD SRW Short Bed

Question:

i am wondering what my best option for a 5th wheel hitch would be for my 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 reg bed. i do not really want a big bulky slider hitch but am still concerned about turning radius. i am looking at purchasing a 2021 Forest river sierra c class 3330bh that has the space saver upper deck and a rhino box pin box. it looks like the pin box sits right at the edge of the front cap which has me concerned about turning radius. i am either looking at a Anderson ultimate hitch or a BandW companion fixed. just wondering if you would be able to help me out.

Since the bed of your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 is only 6-3/4' in length you would need to use a sliding fifth wheel hitch or a rotating pin box with a fixed hitch. Since you stated that the trailer you're looking at has a Rhino Box there is currently no compatible rotating pin box replacement, leaving you in a tumultuous situation with only the sliding hitch as an option.

Since you have the OEM prep package you can at least easily install and remove a hitch. For this I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3775.

The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need. The head of this hitch is easily removable, simply pull the pins pictured below to remove the head and lighten the load when installing or removing the hitch from the bed of your Sierra.
