What is considered a backer? 2016 377v Forest River Vengeance 5th wheel toy hauler 3:-6inch inches above slide opening - will the fiberglass hold or are we supposed to find a few studs -possibly get lucky and hit some sort of backer? A backer plate is simply a support beam of some kind, and is required for installing the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning - 12'7" Wide - 48" Projection - Black # LCV000165061.

You should not install it directly to the fiberglass as it doesn't have the support to hold the # LCV000165061 slide topper. If you don't have a backing plate of some kind, it may be possible to add one where the slide topper installs if it is all possible to gain access. It can be any type of support, like plywood, for example; there just needs to be added support as the fiberglass wouldn't be able to hold the awning on its own.
