Can Replacement LED Monitor Light Demco Air Force One Ground Anywhere

Question:

Replacement LED Monitor Light Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Item # SM99612 I am installing the Stay-In-Play Duo Braking system. My question in regards to installing the LED brake monitor light. Red wire goes to cold side of the brake switch - I understand this. Can the Black wire coming from the indicator lamp go directly to a vehicle ground rather than having to be tied into the Black wire coming from the G-Force connector? I would like to avoid applying the additional blue butt joint connector at this location if it is not required. This removes one more possible failure point. The provided wiring schematic indicates the black wire is System ground wire so thinking this may work. Thank you.

The ground wire of the Replacement LED Monitor Light Demco SBS Air Force One and Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System # SM99612 can be grounded basically anywhere as it only needs to be able to complete the circuit. So whatever is most convenient would work great.
