Will Going to Larger Trailer Wheel and Tire with Higher PSI Rating Affect Ride Quality
Published 01/06/2022 >
Question:
I’m considering changing from15” wheels to 16” wheels and tires on my dual torsion axle horse trailer to raise it to help level it when pulling. I am aware of issues regarding fit within wheel wells. I also realize it won’t increase weight carrying capacity of my trailer. I’m wondering however when going from load range D to E, how much stiffer are those tires and what comfort difference do they make for my horses during their ride?

Basically the ride quality would not be noticeably different going from a 15 inch diameter wheel to a 16 inch diameter tire and wheel. While the sidewall might be slightly stiffer that would be offset by the larger tire diameter that gets over bumps easier and smoother. So if anything MAYBE you'd see a smoother ride quality but in reality it wouldn't really be noticed by your horses.
I attached a link to a page that has all of our 16 inch wheel and tire combos we offer for you to check out as well.
