Work Around For A Furrion Camera System With A 2021 GMC Sierra 2500HD

Published 12/23/2021

Question:

I have a 2021 GMC 2500HD Sierra and 2021 Durango Gold fifth wheeler that is Furrion cameral system ready. Because the 2021 GMC has the PWM issue, the camera system will not work as is. On my Durango, the 7 pin trailer connector runs to a junction box located behind the hitch pin. As a work around for a Furrion 3 camera system installation, what are any issues with connecting the running lights to the auxiliary 12kV circuit of the trailer connection and using an inline switch to cut off when the camper is not being towed? This would provide the full 12 volts required to operate the camera system. Thanks

Yes, Furrion is working on a new adapter that is "supposed" be available around February 2022 to solve the issue with 2021 and on GMC/Chevy trucks. To use your Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Observation Camera System w/ Side Marker Light Cameras - 5" Screen # FCE48TASL-05 with your 2021 GMC Sierra 2500 I recommend just running the cameras directly to the battery on your 2021 Durango Gold Fifth Wheel with an inline switch to control the power running to the cameras. Running the cameras to the battery will also allow you to use them in observation mode without having your running lights on. I don't recommend altering the wiring for your running lights, as you could run into issues with the battery and then have no lights while towing.

You can use the Pollak Light-Duty Toggle Switch - On-Off - 12 Volt - 10 Amp - 6" Wire Leads # PK34513 for your inline switch and some Primary Wire - 16-Gauge - Black - per Foot # 16-1-1 to get from your cameras to the battery.
