Question:

I have the thule hullavator and the square crossbar that was used on my ford flex. I now have a 2020 Subaru Outback onyx with a roof rack. The space for the crossbar on the Subaru seems to be too close together for the kayak placement. How does the hullavator fit on top of my 2020 Subaru Outback?

If you are able to have a crossbar spread (front of one crossbar to front of the other crossbar) of at least 24" and you have the appropriate overhang range of 4" - 8" for the Thule Hullavator # TH898 then you'll be good to go, but I'm pretty sure you will have a smaller crossbar spread than 24" with the current setup on your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon - we can still work with what you have though.

Since you already have Thule square bars we can use those as long as they are the newer bars with the slotted ends on the underside. You will need to make sure they are the 43" bars so that they fit:

43" SquareBar Evo - # TH712100
Evo Flush Rail Feet - # TH710601
Fit Kit - # TH37CE
Lock Kit - # TH450400 (optional)

If you have the older Thule square bar style that is solid all the way around then you'll need to get a whole new roof rack system since the factory rails on your Outback Wagon don't have the overhang you need and the older bars won't fit with the newer feet. You can use the bars I mentioned above or use the 43" WingBar Evo # TH711120 for an upgraded crossbar with the feet and fit kit I mentioned above.
