Does a Short Bed 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 Need a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for Towing a New 5th Wheel RV

Question:

I have a 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory prep package and I'm needing to get a 5th wheel hitch for our 5er. I'm finding conflicting information on whether I need to use a slider or not since we have a short bed. Is there any way to know? I have a 2020 5er and the front is pretty narrow with a nose.

Great question! We always recommend going with a slider for a short bed truck just because we don't always know the style of the 5th wheel someone will be towing. Since you'll be towing a newer 5th wheel with your short bed 2022 GMC Sierra 2500, you actually should be just fine to go with a stationary 5th wheel hitch and still be able to make your tighter turns.

For your application I recommend picking up the B&W Companion 25K # BWRVK3715 because it is arguably the best 5th wheel hitch on the market due to the 1" thick dual jaws and the cam-action lever which makes it extremely easy to operate, even on uneven ground.
