Fit of Blue Ox BX1137 Base Plate With Smittybuilt Aftermarket Bumper on 1995 Jeep Wrangler

Hello. We have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler with a Smittybilt bumper double tube. We are planning to order a Blue Ox Avail™ Tow Bar and Baseplate Combo Blue Ox Part #: BX1137-20, but arent sure that base plate BX-1137 will clear the bumper. The BX-1137 base plate installation instructions shows an Attachment Tab Height of 17inch Im guessing this is from the ground. Using a level, the bottom of my lower tube is 17 1/4inch from the ground. Q1: Is BX-1137 the correct base plate with our tube bumper? Q2: If not, do you have one that will work with our set-up? Thx

I spoke with the folks at Blue Ox who tell me that the # BX1137 is a confirmed fit with the factory bumper only.
We've heard from one of our customers in the past who managed to get the # BX1137 base plates to fit with the Smittybuilt tube bumper, but I unfortunately don't have any specifics to offer that would explain how that was done or if any modifications needed to be made.
I believe your best bet would be to remove the aftermarket bumper and replace it with a factory bumper from a salvage yard, then you'd be assured that the base plates would fit perfectly. In addition to the base plates and the Blue Ox # BX7420 Avail tow bar, you'll need a few other items to complete your flat towing system.
• Diode taillight wiring kit, part # RM-15267
• Supplemental braking system, like Blue Ox Patriot part # BLU37TR
• Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay, part # RM-88400
