SumoSprings SSR-307-47 or Timbren TDRTT1500 Recommended for 2014 Ram 1500

Published 11/03/2021

Question:

Torn between Tmbrens and Sumo. I have a 25ft camper I tow as well as I tow a 6x12 enclosed. The camper causes sag. Truck is 14 Ram 1500 4x4 V8.

Both the Timbren # TDRTT1500 and the SumoSpring # SSR-307-47 would replace the factory jounce bumpers, and would typically not engage until the rear suspension is compressed by about an inch at which time the helper spring would engage.

The Timbren product would certainly offer more support, up to 7000 lbs versus the 1500 offered by the SumoSprings # SSR-307-47 but all you're really needing to cover is the sag caused by the trailer's tongue weight being applied to the rear suspension.

In my opinion the Timbren springs would be overkill for your needs and would lead to a much rougher ride than what would be experienced with the SumoSprings product. The SumoSprings are much more pliable, and would provide a much more comfortable ride for you, so that's what I'd recommend going with.

I've linked to video for both the Timbren and the SumoSprings helper springs.
