Trimming the Driver Side Splash Shield for a Curt Hitch on a 2022 Honda Odyssey
Updated 10/18/2021 | Published 10/16/2021 >
Question:
I had installed a Class three hitch on our 2018 Odyssey and cut the splash shield for it as directed. We have a new 2022 Odyssey and plan on putting on a Class 2 for a little extra ground clearance. Why cant the splash shield be trimmed to fit for this Class 2 hitch as I did for our 2018 Odyssey?

Without knowing what hitch you had on your 2018 Honda Odyssey I can't say for sure but based off of experience the class III hitch receivers require more attachment points and have larger support members than class II hitches. This often times involves cutting into your vehicles trim panels and protective shields. After looking at the instructions for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C12175 you referenced it says in the instructions that you may trim your underbody panel and re-attach after hitch installation. I have linked an installation video for this hitch.
