Expert Reply:
The Curt Venturer NEXT Trailer Brake Controller # C74VV is a time delayed brake controller which will output the same braking force no matter how hard you brake in your 2016 Honda Odyssey LX.
The Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV is a step up from the Venturer as it is a proportional controller. This controller has a sensor built in to sense braking inside your Odyssey and adjust the trailer brakes to match. This makes it a much easier controller to use. Both these controller will require a Universal Wiring Adapter # C51515 to be installed on your Odyssey.
The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 is the controller that I recommend using. This controller is also proportional like the TriFlex. But unlike the TriFlex it has a LCD screen which is much easier to read and is customizable. With a built in diagnostic function you are able to also test the controller and determine what to check in the event that your trailer brakes stop working. And with the included wiring pigtail and quick release mount you can remove the controller when you do not need it.
To wire in a brake controller on your Odyssey you will need a Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to connect to your Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56378 and provide you with the additional wiring you will need to get the brake controller and 7-way functioning properly to tow your Aliner 10' Scout-Lite. I have linked a video below of an installation that we did in our shop on a 2019 Odyssey that you can reference to see what all is involved in the installation of these parts.
