Is The Inno Tire Hold 1 Bike Platform Rack Compatible With A Class I Hitch Receiver

Question:

Will this rack work with a class 1 hitch on a 2020 Kia Soul LX carrying a 2022 Trek Marlin 5? How safe are these tire only racks for driving on the interstate?

i checked the specs for the hitch receivers that fit your 2020 Kia Soul. Each of them has a maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs. The Inno Tire Hold 1 Bike Platform Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting, part # INH110, will fit your Class I hitch receiver. The rack weighs 43 lbs, which leaves 157 lbs to work with for your bike. This would pose no issues for your Trek Marlin 5. You expressed concern about the safety of this rack, since it only holds your bike by its wheels. You will find that it is not a safety issue at all. I actually prefer hitch platform bike racks that hold your bikes by the wheels instead of the frame. I have had a couple of different models for my vehicle and I have not had any issues driving on the highway carrying bikes on a carrier similar to the one your are inquiring about.
