Question:

I have a 2021 RAM 1500 with trailer camera pre-wire package and U-Connect 12inch screen. Theres a plug near the hitch receiver for a trailer camera system. On the U-Connect system, when in Reverse, I can Aux 1 or Aux 2 cameras, but theres nothing there yet. What camera options do I have that will work with this pre-wire? Im about to purchase a travel trailer which is pre-wired with a Furrion backup camera dock on the rear. Can I use this?

We can definitely get you setup with a backup camera for your trailer. There will be some things we have to work around to get this setup properly. First, the Furrion cameras will only work with Furrion monitors, so you will not be able to use the U-Connect screen with the Furrion camera. The trailer camera pre-wire package will only work with a backup camera on the truck. The Furrion camera dock will house a camera on a separate system keeping an eye on the rear of your travel trailer.

Our best solution for installing a backup camera on the rear of your 2021 RAM 1500 depends on whether your U-connect screen has RCA jacks. If it has RCA jacks on the back of the monitor, in theory, you should be able to use the Rear View Safety Adapter Cord - 5 Pin Male to RCA Male, part # RVS-RCA5-AM, for a male part or part # RVS-RCA5, for the female part. I spoke with a representative from Rear View Systems and he confirmed that if you have the correct outputs, a 5 pin to RCA jack, you should be able to use any of the RVS camera systems that come with monitors. For example, you could use the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 4 Camera Setup - Quad View Monitor, part # RVS-062710, which has the capability to be hooked up to four cameras. I have also attached a list of other Rear View Systems Cameras below.

The Furrion dock will work with any of their cameras. Their systems are wireless and they come in built in transmitters to reduce interference form other devices. You can many options to choose from, different sized monitors with varying features, such as the Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System w/ Night Vision - Rear Mount - 5" Screen, part # FOS05TASF. This camera has night vision, a built in microphone, and it can support up to four different cameras.

Hello Mark, My name is Gary. I am kind of piggy backing on another persons question. I have a 2020 ram 1500 longhorn which has the backup cam built into the tailgate. I also tow a travel trailer which I would like to add a backup camera to and have the image sent to my OEM indash display where everything else goes, as apposed to adding an additional display just to support the trailer camera. Is there a solution the your company can recommend for this? thanks/Gary

@Gary Thanks for reaching out to us! Unfortunately, none of our cameras are able to integrate into an OEM dash setup for any trucks on the market. All of our systems use an additional monitor to work.
